Android v5.9
Category manager, Google Drive backup, currency support for prices, reworked sync, and smarter voice recognition that now picks up quantities and units.
A new Android release rolls out today with one of the biggest feature batches in a while, plus a sync rewrite under the hood and a long list of smaller polish.
New
- Category manager — create, reorder, recolor and delete categories directly from settings instead of editing them per list.
- Google Drive backup — opt-in, encrypted, your decryption key never leaves the device.
- New input button — quicker access fully customizable
- Offers are available again — the weekly deal feed is back.
- Subtle row tinting — toggle a light alternating background on every other row for easier scanning in long lists.
- Currencies for prices — items with prices can now be tagged with the currency of your choice.
Adjusted
- Synchronization reworked — faster initial sync, fewer conflicts when two devices add the same item simultaneously, and clearer status indicators.
- Voice recognition picks up quantities and units — say “two kilograms of flour” and the app fills in the count and the unit fields automatically.
- New default types for quantities — sensible defaults so you rarely need to pick a unit by hand.
- New list menu - Quick Account access
- Minor design tweaks — spacing, contrast, and motion adjustments across the app.
Fixed
- Several reported crashes during sync setup and list opening are resolved.
If you don’t see the update yet, force-refresh the Play Store listing or wait a few hours for the staged rollout to reach your region. Issues or feedback? Drop a note to support@shopping-app.net — I read every email.
